Christine + Jason {Wedding Day)

Adrienne Maples
Our Memorial Day weekend began at The President Hotel which resides in the Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City.  I love what the city has done to the area!  So Saturday afternoon I met with Christine, her twin sister Liz, older sister Rachel, & her lovely mom Polly.  The quiet room quickly filled with bridesmaids, lots of laughter & smiles on every face.  In addition to being beautiful, all of the girls were silly &  very easy to get along with!  I knew instantly that it would be an amazing day.

Christine’s girlfriends were all stellar women.  They were all so happy for Christine & it was easy to find giggling moments among friends & smiling happy faces!  I love happy bridesmaids who will do anything for their bride.

Since the ladies were super cool, it was hard to pull myself away to pal around with the groomsmen…
And WOW!  What a group!! They were hilarious- I laughed so hard my stomach muscles hurt.  However I must note, it was hard to get them to be serious.  But really, who cares about that?  It was fun, laughs & jokes among friends.  What better way to spend your wedding day?  (Sorry they picked on you AJ- you were a good sport).

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn several times & I highly, highly recommend him!  He addresses the significance of the rituals but keeps things light adding a few jokes here & there.  He always gets a few laughs at every ceremony & it gives me more to work with when everyone is laughing.  He jokes with the couples during the Ketubah signing & it always provokes a few fun moments.  It is really important to have chemistry with the individual you select to perform your ceremony.  Over the years, I’ve really noticed a difference!

The ballroom was revamped during cocktail hour to provide the guests  a formal sit down dinner.  The Chuppah was left intact & served as a perfect spot for the newly weds to share their first meal as a married couple! The ballroom was absolutely breath taking! I’ve never before seen a Chuppah so carefully constructed, the delicate canopy was put together with strands of dangling flowers that hung overhead. You could smell the delicate aroma down the hall upon exiting the elevators.  The soft ivory & pink were a nice mix with the gilded colors found in the elegant ballroom; I really love what I can do with a couple of lights in that place!

Who doesn’t love a good Hora??  I always place myself right in the middle of the circle.  I’m small so it’s easy for me to get right into the action, but it is also very easy to get a broken nose with a camera pressed against your face!!   We often come away from the Hora with a few bruises… but it’s worth it to get some crazy shots.  The last shot is of Liz (Christine’s twin sis) & their dad.  Dad looks like he’s having a great time but poor Liz… she really didn’t want to go up in that chair!

This is how any great night should end–
Am I right ladies???

The photos seem to emit a golden light. Stunning quality. Or maybe it was the love and joy everyone was feeling.
It’s great to revisit such a happy occasion. I too was most impressed to see Paul’s face between his legs. That was a dangerous shot!
    With love

  26. Adrienne says:

Paul! Thank you for your kind remarks!

I waited for the shot under the chair, I stayed along the inner circle as they threw you up in the chair. As they began throwing you up, I noticed that your legs kicked up to frame your face. I waited for the next throw & snapped it the moment I saw your face.

I waited for it again, but it didn’t happen!

  27. Marla White says:

Absolutely the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen.

    Thanks so much!
