Jennifer Joins the Team at AMP

Adrienne MaplesWe are excited to announce that we are adding a talented, hysterical content writer to our team!

I am always interested in providing more interesting content on the blog, a little dash of humor & discussions my readers will find useful.  I’ve racked my brain trying to figure out how to find more time in the day for this blog!  Others can manage to do it, why can’t I??  But the truth is that I have far too many daily duties already :)   I love writing but it’s hard enough to force my hand to my own journal.

I hate to admit it {sigh},  but I can’t do it all myself…

*A fact you should know about me is, this was my first 3 word phrase, ‘Do it Myself‘… apparently it’s taken me thirty years to learn how to delegate.

Honestly, I’ve finally began to embrace the fact. I’ve spent the last 3 years caring for my ill husband AND run a business that’s booming out of control.   I had a wonderful vision for our new blog when it was launched last April.  I wanted to share with you more than just pretty pictures.  I wanted to share real life.

It was time to grow our team again… but who could I find to write for us on a consistent basis???  Someone who can keep our readers informed about all of the exciting things happening at the studio?  But someone who could also shed a little light on interesting subjects for my readers… brides, new moms, growing families and of course photography tips!

Our new content writer, Jennifer, with her adorable family.

The answer came as a complete surprise one afternoon on the phone with my cousin.  We were having our daily chat.  She & I we were born a month apart and raised just a few miles from one another.  We’ve remained close to this day, despite the fact that I left the South.  I now live hundreds of miles from what I was once called home. This particular afternoon she was telling me her trial & error story about her attempts (at the moment unsuccessfully) to wean her little girl.  I found myself laughing hysterically at all of the crazy things she’d tried but eventually she found a method that worked for her.  I was impressed with the brilliant solution that finally worked = 1 part sports bra + 1 part garlic covered nipples!

img_7482The answer was in front of me the entire time.  Jennifer was my answer- bright, funny, a woman who has both child care AND writing experience… plus she’s related to me. Over the last several years, I’ve been encouraging her to write more {bugged to DEATH is more like it!}  I laugh out loud at the, often times, outrageous things she tells me and I want her to write about them.  So I’ve asked her to write about them here.  Wonderful stories of child rearing, both joys & sorrows of pregnancy, daily teachings for a child, what it means to take on some one else’s children & much more.

I hope you will all enjoy reading her stories as much as I enjoy hearing them.

Stay tuned for her first great article on ‘Preparing for the Birth of your Child: What to take to the hospital’

img_83191Jennifer Robinson obtained her B.A. degree in writing before pursuing a career in childcare.  She has worked in child care industry for the last twelve years, eight of which were spent managing all aspects of an independent daycare center.  While she still provides nanny services for families in the Southeast, she remains busy caring for her daughter & was recently awarded custody of two little boys.  She is expecting her second child this March.  She currently resides in Southeast Georgia with her ever expanding family & her loving, hard-working husband.

Thanks! We are very excited to have someone to offer baby & child rearing advice! I have so many questions & I’m not even a mom yet. I thought this would be a very helpful & useful resource for all of our clients!

Adrienne, Geoff and I have loved watching your business grow from a distance. I must admit, I am always impressed by how much you seem to have on your plate. Congrats on being able to find a balance for the blog that gives you an integration of family, but also allows you to focus on your enormous “to-do list” that you already have. I’m excited to see what your new addition will mean for your blog!
