It seems so long ago that I was complaining about the Savannah heat on a daily basis. So what do I do? I travel back to the good ole’ ATL in the middle of August! HOT & HUMID but I was traveling for a good cause, Grandma was scheduled for a procedure & I got to take care of her the week before hand.
I put my cheer hat on, packed my stuff & got on the plane leaving my sick husband to fend for himself for the week. Have you seen the movie ‘Multiplicity’?- if you haven’t then don’t… but I wish I could be in more than one place. On this hot, Atlanta morning, I was happy to see Becky, Rick & their two adorable little girls! It’s hard for me to believe the last time I saw these two was on their cool December wedding day in Savannah, Georgia. Now they have two cute little girls!!

This is little Sarah, we were playing peek-a-boo with a hat her grandmother made for her.

And this is little adventurer, Anna. She wanted to run into the waterfalls the moment she stepped out of the car!

Papa playing with his two girls. Anna was having a blast, Sarah wasn’t quite sure if she was ok with this game…

But when asked about ice cream, see this expression! Look at those two teeth, so cute!

It was so wonderful to see you both again. I enjoyed spending the morning with your lovely family!

This was the first time I officially met Megan & Jason- we’ve only had conversations over the phone. I always get just a little nervous when meeting my couples for the very first time. I think this keeps me honest & real- just like the fear that drives me on wedding day. (Yes, I still get nervous on wedding day! I have to perform & do it better than the week before. That’s a lot of pressure folks!)
I mention this because any nervous energy felt dissipated the second I walked up to greet Megan. I instantly felt at ease & had a great time joking with these two. I love it when my couples actually think I’m funny! These are a few of my favorites! I am in a rush to get this post online, so enjoy a few images of their cuteness!

I know it’s hard to believe, but I am making this post from a dial-up connection… it’s trying my patience. So please excuse any errors you may find this this post. I can’t believe that I have been sitting here for a half an hour in an attempt to log the blog, create a new post & I haven’t even begun uploading my photos yet! Arrrghhh! How did I LIVE before high speed internet? How quickly we forgot how convienient our lives have become.
Why, you ask, am I on a dial-up connection?
I am currently down South visiting with my family & taking care of my beloved grandmother. I am staying with my grandparents this week & even though my grandma is super computer saavy, my grandfather doesn’t really think she needs ‘fast‘ internet. I completely disagree!
But before I left Kansas to return to the hot, humid South- I had several wonderful shoots that I haven’t had a chance to blog! This is the gorgeous Sania who’s adorable husband called to schedule this shoot as a surprise for her birthday. But he didn’t stop there! He hired Katie, with Mink Artistry, to provide hair & make-up AND he sent her to the spa.
What a fabulous birthday surprise!!! We had a great time shooting, in between the clouds holding puddles of rain. There were moments during our session where we actually had to stop & use the reflector to cover us from getting wet! It was quite the adventure. Here are a few of my favorites.

Isn’t she beautiful! I love the circles of light that split this frame.

We have been nominated for Best Portrait Photographer in Kansas City!
…. BUT I must have help to actually win. You see this is a voting competition, a popularity contest.
{insert long winded sigh here} Never in my life have I been any good at popularity contests!! I was an art kid in high school. I remember the days where I wore all black & preferred hanging in the art room developing film during the pep rallies. Let me assure you, that DOES NOT lead to popularity! In fact the direct opposite actually occurs.
Yet last year, thanks for all of you, I received 20% of the vote for Best Photographer taking second place! I was humbled by the kind words people took the time to write! I was also overwhelmed by the number of Savannah wedding clients that came to my aid. I was sure that some of you had long forgotten about me… but I was wrong-
The fond wedding day memories are still there for us all! I LOVE IT!
This year, if you’d like to see me take first place, head on over & vote!
All you need is a valid email address, but you will have to register & then click on the link to make your vote count.
This year I am competing in the portrait category, which is very exciting! Any help is appreciated as every single vote counts, so encourage friends & family :) Much love from me & the entire AMP Team!!!

And just so there is a little bit of ‘eye candy’ for your enjoyment in this post…. these are a few of my favorite portraits from the last year.

After enjoying an incredible weekend of 80 degrees last weekend, I met up with Laurel & Paul on Monday prepared to sweat! The humidity had returned & we enjoyed a high of 95 while we were out. But these two were champs! They definitely got a bit warm but they didn’t let it phase them. We had a good time playing around town & finding some neat spots…
And I loved their choice of clothing! The colors were great- I found tons of matching colors in the area where we were shooting. That’s always part of the challenge of a shoot… I enjoy matching colors, patterns & textures with the environment. I’m fairly certain Paul styled the shoot- bravo Paul. It was fun!

Laurel is already quite the model, Paul enjoys taking photographs of her & he’s done a fantastic job training her to be comfortable in front of a camera. Anyone reading this blog knows how difficult it can be feeling completely comfortable in front of a lens. Truth be told, part of the engagement shoot is making my couples more comfortable before the wedding. This makes wedding day photographs a piece of cake!

I’ve never asked a couple to lie down on a photo shoot before- so I thought it was about time to get some people really uncomfortable for the sake of design ;) Yeah, maybe I need to work on this concept a little more.
Height would probably help!!
This was one of my favorites! We had a slight breeze & Paul took advantage- when I went through my first round of edits I burst out laughing when I saw this one. I wasn’t sure if I had caught snapped the shutter at the precise moment I intended but I was thrilled with the outcome.

I loved this scene. When I saw the light & shadows adding depth to this scene, I thought it was the perfect spot to ask the couple about the proposal.

Katie from Mink Artistry handled Laurel’s makeup & did an amazing job as always. This shot was taken towards the end of our shoot & Laurel looks just as great as when we began!

Today I present you with images of someone very important in my life over the last year- this is our nurse Cassie & her super cute kiddos. She works side by side with our primary care doctor, Dr. Jeffery Rhoads & we adore them both! Together we’ve been trying to solve the mystery of my husband’s illness.
On this afternoon we got together for some family fun.

Little Arabella is 11 months old & Aiden is three & full of energy! I especially love shooting babies at this age. Their eyes are always bright & full of wonder. This little cutie has just started taking her first steps & that is always an entertaining thing to photograph. Both of these kids are going to celebrate birthday’s this month!

Little Aiden is a firecracker but he already looks after his little sis. You can tell he is concerned about her- it’s really cute to see siblings interact when they are this little. I remember my mom telling me stories about my brother’s fighting over holding me! The age before boys are concerned with ‘macho-ism’.
Ichy, ichy!! Poor Arabella is allergic to the grass & many other things, Cassie is beginning to learn… poor thing broke out in a rash almost instantly. Just looking through the photos made me feel the urge to scratch-
You see, somehow we managed to trap a mosquito in our bedroom- it’s been feasting on me all week. I counted 18, yes EIGHT-TEEN bites on me yesterday! It gave me an extra dose of sympathy while editing through these photos.

This is my absolute favorite of little Bella, she is the cutest!! Just look at those eyes sparkle!

I just adore Katie & Dan, really. It’s amazing how fast Katie & I can get wrapped up in a conversation and in only seconds we are miles away from where we started. It’s like running into an old friend you haven’t seen in years- the conversation is just always there! I met Dan for the first time while shooting Sara & Greg’s Wedding, I liked him instantly. These guys are friends & were actually referred to me by the same fabulous client. (Hence, the reason why ALL of my clients are so awesome!) Everybody seems to know each other. It’s incredibly rewarding & fun running into the same crowds every weekend!
I had to start off with their adorable pupster! ADORABLE!! He’s a very good dog, although a little ‘defiant’- see the end of the post for a hilarious laugh at this guys ‘defiant attitude’. They adopted him from Wayside Waifs.
Ok, so here is our adorable couple. (Yes, I said adorable three times!!)
These next two images had to be shown together. Every time Katie kissed Dan on the cheek, he reacted with a hilarious ‘wince’- I got a kick out of it every time it happened. Never got old!
Then it was followed by a sincere smile & clear adoration for one another.

Yup, this was his idea of defiance! Every-time we commanded his attention & he didn’t wish to acquiesce, he simply laid on the ground & became completely docile. And every time we just laughed, which probably isn’t what Ceaser would recommend…
But hey, doesn’t this face bring a smile to yours???

Lauren along with her mom & sis joined up with me to do a fashion style bridal portrait earlier this week. I love it when brides take advantage of a portrait session prior to the wedding! It let’s me be really creative & get different shots than time allows for on wedding day. It also helps practice posing & always looking fabulous for the camera. You can clearly see that Lauren was a total pro by the end of her session.
Lauren & her sister, Lindsay, flew in from Texas where is was SUPER hot. So even though we ended up with the hottest night in KC but 85 degrees was a relief for the girls! We had such a great time running around downtown, finding neat spots for different portraits.

Ashlee came along to help me with some creative lighting. The portrait below is shot just before sunset with a little pop of light from the side. I gave just enough ‘pop’ to highlight the right side of her face & create a little ‘drama’ shadow.

I used a little creative lighting for these two images as well. The sunlight was fading fast because of a storm that was on our heels! In fact, we finished just in time. The sky began to light up as Ashlee & I walked back to the van. Once we hit the highway, the skies opened & absolutely poured on us!!
